I was thinking about getting these hinges when we ordered or L&P split king a few months ago but it has turned out not to be an issue.
A standard twin bed is 38 inches wide and 75 inches long. And while it would be easy to simply put two standard twin mattresses together, this presents a problem: You'll end up with a perfect fit width-wise, but the bed will be a whopping 5 inches shorter in length.
We have two twin xl mattresses put together to make a king sized bed. The problem is they slide apart. Each mattress has it's own adjustable base so we can each adjust the bed to our own comfort

An eastern or standard king bed's measurements are 76 inches wide and 80 inches long, while a California king mattress runs 72 inches wide and 84 inches long.
An L-shaped room gives the opportunity to almost create two separate bedrooms, making it a perfect fit for twin beds. Here, the beds are pushed into the corners (not usually a problem for twin beds, as you only need access from one side) and paired with two desks, while the inhabitants' chests of drawers are together under the windows.
